Finding Balance When Thoughts Won’t Slow Down
Anxiety is something so many of us experience. It might show up as racing thoughts at night, a tight chest when you wake up, or that restless feeling that makes it hard to settle. Sometimes it’s triggered by specific stresses, and sometimes it’s simply the nervous system stuck on high alert.
From my own work, and from listening to clients over the years, I know that anxiety is rarely just in the mind. It affects the body, the breath, and even the way we connect to others. That’s why calming an anxious mind isn’t about “snapping out of it.” It’s about finding ways to settle the whole system. Crystals can be a gentle and supportive part of that process.
When you meditate with crystals, place them by your bedside, or carry them in your pocket, you’re inviting their steady energy to remind your own body to settle. They don’t take away life’s challenges, but many people find they help to soothe the intensity of what they’re feeling, creating the space to breathe a little deeper and think a little clearer.
Here are five crystals for anxiety I often recommend for calming an anxious mind, and why they can make such a difference.

Amethyst
Amethyst is one of my first suggestions for anyone struggling to switch off. Its calming frequency helps quieten looping thoughts, ease tension in the body, and support more restful sleep. If you find yourself lying awake with your mind racing, keep a piece of Amethyst by your bed or hold it during a short meditation before sleep.

Lepidolite
Lepidolite is sometimes called the “peace stone.” It contains natural lithium, which is said to support emotional balance. I often recommend it to clients who feel they can’t stop worrying or whose thoughts run in circles. Holding Lepidolite during moments of overwhelm, or placing it on the chest while you rest, can help bring a sense of quiet and balance.

Blue Lace Agate
This crystal carries a gentle, cooling energy. It’s especially supportive when anxiety spills into communication — when you feel on edge and it’s hard to express yourself clearly. Blue Lace Agate softens stress, soothes nerves, and helps you find calmer words. I often suggest wearing it as a pendant close to the throat, or keeping it nearby during difficult conversations.

Rose Quartz
Anxiety is often tied to self-criticism and feeling like we’re not doing enough. Rose Quartz is a reminder of compassion — especially compassion for yourself. It brings comfort and reassurance, encouraging you to slow down and allow softness back in. Keep it close on the days when you’re hard on yourself, or place it on the heart during meditation to invite a sense of calm and acceptance.

Smoky Quartz
When anxiety feels heavy and overwhelming, Smoky Quartz is the anchor. It grounds racing thoughts and draws energy back into the body. Many people find it helpful to hold Smoky Quartz in their hand during anxious moments, or to place it by the feet when meditating. It supports the release of what’s weighing heavy and creates a steadier sense of presence.
How to Work with These Crystals
The most important thing is consistency. Carry a stone in your pocket, wear it as jewellery, or take a few minutes each day to hold it and breathe. You can also create a small crystal grid for calm, placing your chosen stones in a circle and sitting quietly within that space. Journaling with a crystal nearby is another lovely way to combine grounding practices with reflection.
Remember, these crystals are not a replacement for professional support if anxiety is overwhelming or ongoing. But they can be a steady, gentle reminder to pause, soften, and come back to yourself.
Reiki Healing, Sound and Crystals for Anxiety
Alongside crystals, I also work with Reiki, sound healing, and other forms of energy work. These therapies support the nervous system, clear stuck energy, and bring the body back into balance.
Many of my clients who struggle with anxiety find that combining crystal work with Reiki or sound healing gives them a deeper sense of release and calm. Every session is different, but the aim is always the same to help you feel lighter, more centred, and more at ease in yourself.
