Crystals for Detox, Hormones, IBS, Insomnia and More

One of the most common questions I get — especially in summer — is:

“Can crystals help when you’ve overdone it a bit?”


Whether it’s after a weekend of BBQs, a big holiday, or just feeling energetically heavy, many people reach for crystals when they’re in need of a reset.


But recently, more and more of you have been reaching out about something deeper.

Not just detox. But things like fibromyalgiaIBSperimenopause, and insomnia.

Physical symptoms that linger. Energy that feels flat or frazzled. A nervous system that’s simply overstretched.


While crystals can’t replace rest, nutrition or medical support, they can be helpful companions. They create moments of connection. They remind us to pause, breathe, and tune into what we really need — physically, emotionally and energetically.


So in this blog, I’m sharing the crystals I most often recommend when clients ask about feeling “off”, “worn out” or “not quite right”. Each section focuses on a common concern, with gentle suggestions you can weave into everyday life.


Detox and Energetic Overload

For when your body feels heavy, your energy feels foggy, or you just need to clear the slate. Often asked about after a busy few days, but also useful for anyone feeling energetically cluttered or overstimulated.




Crystals to try:

  1. Black Tourmaline – grounding and protective. Great near electronics or when you’ve been around intense energy.

  2. Shungite – said to support physical detox and neutralise overstimulation, especially from tech or travel.

  3. Quartz with Tourmaline – a powerful combo for clearing and grounding.

  4. Smoky Quartz – helps gently release what you no longer need to carry.

  5. Clear Quartz – amplifies intention and helps you reset your energy.


Ways to use:

Place by your bed, on your desk, or carry one in your pocket. Try holding a detox stone during breathwork or quiet time and let it be a physical reminder to clear what’s been weighing you down.


IBS, Bloating and Digestive Support

Digestion is closely tied to the nervous system. Stress, emotions and sensitivity often sit right in the gut. These crystals are linked with calming the body and supporting the digestive centre (especially the sacral area).




Crystals to try:

  1. Carnelian – said to support movement and flow, especially around the gut and womb space.

  2. Green Aventurine – soothing and balancing, often linked with digestive harmony.

  3. Chrysoprase – connected to releasing stored emotional tension and stress in the body.

  4. Moonstone – helps calm the gut-brain connection and is often used for hormonal digestion.


Ways to use:

Place on the belly while lying down, hold during breathwork, or simply carry with you through the day to support emotional balance and digestive ease.


Hormonal Balance and Perimenopause

From mood swings to fatigue, hormonal shifts can be deeply disruptive. These crystals are ones I turn to often for support with emotional regulation, grounding and rest.




Crystals to try:

  1. Lepidolite – contains natural lithium and is said to help with emotional regulation and sleep.

  2. Amethyst – calming and protective, often used to support mood changes.

  3. Garnet – grounding, strengthening, and reconnecting you with your physical body.

  4. Moonstone – deeply connected to feminine energy and hormonal cycles.

  5. Tiger’s Eye – for steadiness and confidence, especially when things feel out of control.


Ways to use:

Place under your pillow, wear close to the skin, or use during quiet rituals like journalling or resting. These stones work gently and consistently over time.


Fibromyalgia and Ongoing Fatigue

Many of my clients with fibromyalgia describe a deep weariness — physically and emotionally. These crystals are said to support nervous system calm, help release emotional weight, and offer energetic stability.




Crystals to try:

  1. Fluorite – supports mental clarity and emotional calm, especially when everything feels jumbled.

  2. Selenite – soft clearing and energetic refresh, especially for those with sensitive systems.

  3. Black Obsidian – helpful for releasing emotional tension that’s been held in the body.

  4. Labradorite – known for energetic protection and resilience.

  5. Lepidolite – useful here again for supporting emotional fatigue.


Ways to use:

Keep nearby during rest. Place gently on the body during meditation. Use as a grounding tool during difficult flare-up days.


Insomnia and Sleep Support

When sleep feels out of reach — whether it’s a busy mind, hormone changes or long-term stress — these crystals can help create calm, safe space for rest.

  1. Celestite – soft and calming, often used for sleep and nervous system support.

  2. Lepidolite – ideal by the bed or under the pillow to promote restful sleep.

  3. Rose Quartz – emotionally soothing and gently comforting.

  4. Howlite – said to slow mental chatter and promote quiet focus.

  5. Amethyst – protective, calming, and helps support emotional release before bed.
