Crystals to Support You as the Year Closes
As November draws to a close, there’s a quiet shift that starts to happen. The light changes, the days shorten and life begins to slow down. This is often the time when we naturally start to reflect on what the year has brought us, what we’ve outgrown, and what we’re ready to release before the new year begins.
This softer energy can feel emotional or uncertain, especially if the year has been full of change. But it can also feel peaceful, like a chance to exhale and let go of the things you no longer need to carry.
Crystals can support this process beautifully, helping you stay grounded and clear while you move through reflection and release.
Smoky Quartz

Smoky Quartz is one of my favourite crystals for this time of year. It’s deeply grounding and protective, helping to clear old energy and emotional clutter. It’s particularly helpful if you’ve felt stuck or heavy, as it brings your focus back to the present moment. Hold it in your hand during journalling or meditation, or keep a piece by the front door to remind you to leave stress behind when you step inside.
Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline offers protection and stability. It’s the crystal I suggest for anyone who feels easily drained by other people’s energy. It acts as a shield, strengthening your boundaries and helping you feel safe in your own space. Keep it near your bed for better rest or in your pocket when you need extra steadiness during the day.
Labradorite

Labradorite helps with change and transition. It reminds you that endings are simply new beginnings in disguise. The shifting colours within it symbolise the light within transformation, making it a perfect companion when you’re releasing old habits or situations that no longer serve you. When life feels uncertain, Labradorite helps you stay open to possibility.
Brandberg Quartz

Brandberg Quartz is a crystal of deep emotional renewal. It works gently on the heart, helping you release sadness, grief or old attachments. Inside some pieces you can see tiny air bubbles of ancient water, a reminder that even what feels stuck can begin to move again. Hold it close to your heart when you need comfort or stillness.
Hematite

Hematite grounds energy into the body. It’s ideal for those times when your mind is busy but your body feels disconnected. I often recommend it for anyone who feels anxious or unsettled, as it helps draw scattered thoughts back into focus. Place it on your desk while working or in your pocket when you’re out and about to keep your energy balanced.
Creating your own release ritual
You don’t need anything elaborate to mark the close of the year. I often suggest a simple ritual of reflection and release. Light a candle, take a few slow breaths and hold a crystal that feels grounding to you. Think about what you’re ready to let go of, then imagine that energy dissolving into the light. You can write a few words about what you’re releasing and burn or tear the paper to symbolise letting go.
Afterwards, spend a few minutes focusing on what you’d like to welcome instead.
Peace, balance, gratitude or rest. Let your crystal absorb that intention.
The gift of slowing down
Letting go isn’t always easy, but it’s what allows new energy to arrive. Crystals help to hold you steady during that process, giving you both grounding and perspective.
This is the time of year to slow down, to recharge, and to come back to yourself before the busyness of December begins. Whether you spend the evening journalling, walking, or simply sitting quietly with your favourite crystal, give yourself permission to release what’s ready to move on.
If you’d like to explore which crystals could support you during this reflective season, you can visit me at one of my upcoming events, book a private crystal prescription or energy healing session, or shop online to find the pieces that feel right for you.
Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do for our energy is simply let go.
