Why People Are Turning to Energy Healing Alongside Busy, Modern Life

There is a particular kind of tiredness I’m seeing in people a lot at the moment and people are turning to energy healing alongside busy, modern life.

Not just physical exhaustion, although that’s usually part of it. It’s the feeling of being constantly “on”. Constant notifications, constant thinking, constant pressure to keep going even when the body is quietly asking for rest.

People are functioning. They’re working, parenting, caring for others, hitting deadlines, replying to messages. But underneath it, a lot of them feel disconnected from themselves.

That’s a big part of why more people are exploring energy healing right now. Not because they’re suddenly looking for something extreme or mystical. Usually it’s much simpler. They want to feel calmer, steadier, and more like themselves again.

What energy healing actually offers

One of the biggest misconceptions about energy healing is that it has to feel mystical or deeply spiritual to be doing anything. My clients come to me because they’re overwhelmed and they want to feel better. That’s it.

Reiki and sound healing are designed to support relaxation and emotional balance. They help the nervous system slow down in a way that’s genuinely difficult to access in everyday life. For some clients, a session is the first time in months they’ve properly switched off.

Why modern life leaves so many of us dysregulated

We were never built to absorb the amount of stimulation we deal with daily now. We move from screen to screen all day. There’s very little silence, very little stillness, and very little space to actually process anything before the next thing arrives.

I think a lot of people have become so used to stress that they no longer recognise it as stress. It just feels like life. Trouble sleeping. Feeling reactive over things that wouldn’t normally bother you. Tightness in the chest. Racing thoughts. The kind of tiredness that doesn’t lift after a weekend. Feeling disconnected from joy or creativity, even when nothing is technically wrong.

The body keeps score when we push through for too long.

What clients experience during a session

Everyone experiences healing work differently. Some clients get emotional during a Reiki session. Others fall asleep almost immediately because their body finally feels safe enough to rest properly. Some notice warmth, tingling, or a sense of heaviness lifting. Others simply leave feeling calmer and lighter than when they arrived.

There’s no right way to experience it. What matters most is what people take with them afterwards. More grounded. Less mentally noisy. More present.

I’m a Reiki and Angelic Reiki practitioner, and I also weave crystals into my sessions. Specific stones on the chakras, or grids holding the energy of the space. Crystals and Reiki are a natural pairing, and a lot of clients tell me that combination is what makes their session feel different from energy work they’ve had elsewhere.

Five crystals I often recommend for modern life

These are the five I find myself reaching for most often with clients dealing with the kind of stress modern life throws at us.

Amethyst - Penny King Crystals
Amethyst

Amethyst, for sleep. Yes, it’s the obvious one, and it earns its reputation. Amethyst is the stone I suggest most often to people who can’t switch off at night, who wake up at 3am with their mind racing, or who feel wired from the day even when they’re exhausted. Tucked under the pillow or on the bedside table. Simple, and it works.

Howlite - Penny King Crystals
Howlite

Howlite, for the mind that won’t stop. This is one I find people don’t talk about enough. Howlite is associated with calming an overactive mind, and I recommend it a lot for people who lie in bed mentally rehearsing tomorrow’s to-do list. It pairs well with amethyst, and I often suggest the two together for clients with sleep issues that are more mental than physical.

Fluorite - Penny King Crystals
Fluorite

Fluorite, for decision fatigue and scattered thinking. If you spend your day making constant small decisions and end up with no brain left by 6pm, fluorite is one to keep on your desk. It’s traditionally associated with mental clarity, focus, and cutting through fog. I recommend it a lot to clients in demanding jobs or anyone who feels mentally pulled in too many directions.

Labradorite - Penny King Crystals
Labradorite

Labradorite, for the people who pick up on everyone else’s energy. This is the stone I reach for when a client tells me they feel drained after social situations, work meetings, or being around stressed people. Labradorite is traditionally seen as energetically protective, almost like a shield. If you’re the person friends offload onto, or you work in any kind of caring or client-facing role, this is one worth having.

Lepidolite - Penny King Crystals
Lepidolite

Lepidolite, for background anxiety. Lepidolite actually contains naturally occurring lithium, which is the same mineral used in some medication for mood and anxiety. That alone tells you something about why it’s been used for centuries to support emotional balance. I recommend it for the kind of low-level anxiety that hums in the background and never quite switches off.

If any of those sound like the support you need right now, message me directly and I’ll help you choose the right one for what you’re working through.
